So, Beowulf, directed by Robert Zemeckis, looks like it’s going to be a nice movie. Angelina Jolie is in it, so that’s a big plus, eventhough she’s ‘digitally enhanced’. She looks hot as hell in the poster.
Poster for Beowulf, the movie
Beowulf is a 2007 fantasy film directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film is an adaptation of the Old English epic poem Beowulf and was made using a special technique of digitally enhanced live action. Beowulf will be released on November 16, 2007 and stars Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, Alison Lohman, John Malkovich, Crispin Glover, Brendan Gleeson and Angelina Jolie. I was thinking about posting this a few weeks ago, but I simply forgot. So, above, a photo of Megan Fox from one of the scenes of Transformers. She’s hot, and enjoyed her scenes in that movie, but I thought it was a transformers movie. When I watched it, I think it’s the first time I was really expecting less Megan Fox and more robot scenes. Anyway, I really liked the movie.
And back to today’s hottie, here’s one amazing clip of her
Gremlins was awesome, original, funny, scary. I wish Hollywood makes Gremlins 3 (I’ve read about it in some sites, but it looks like it’s nothing but rumors), though to tell you the truth, I don’t think Gremlins 2 was nearly as good as the original movie.
I remember that when I was a kid, all I wanted was a Mogwai as cute as Gizmo, even if it could turn into an ugly mess. But I loved that cute monster.
I also used to think that the girl in that movie was the most beautiful girl in the whole world. I was young an innocent, and it wasn’t until years later that I found out that same girl, Phoebe Cates, had done a couple of movies (Paradise and Fast Times at Ridgemont High) where she showed all of her features. She’s 43 now, but she still looks great.
from Fast Times at Ridgemont High
I was looking for the famous pool scene from Fast Times, but I had no luck. Well, aslmost no luck. I did find this video, which is great anyway.
This is not a new movie, but still I wanted to talk a little bit about it. Perfume: The story of a murderer is one of my favorite movies of all time. The story is captivating, the cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, and the soundtrack is beautiful.
The story revolves around Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, whose incomparable sense of smell and inexplicable lack of a personal scent isolates him from society. Obsessed with the rich sensory world he alone inhabits, his single objective in life becomes the preservation of the perfect scent: the skin of young, beautiful women.
The movie is a piece of art, and although it doesn’t deviate that much from the book, as usual, the book is way better. Perfume, by Patrick Suskind is definitely a book you must read. As with the movie, that book is definitely one of my favorites of all time.
By the way, the actresses are gorgeous. Rachel Hurd-Wood is such a beautiful girl, it’s almost unbelievable. And it’s no wonder that Karoline Herfurth (the plum girl) is the representation of the perfect beauty that can make a man lose his mind.
A story where the sense of smell is one of the main characters is very difficult to translate from the pages of a book to the big screen, but the director succeeded in this transition. According to the wikipedia, Stanley Kubrick once said that the book was unfilmable.
Ridley Scott, Tim Burton and Martin Scorsese either considered making the movie or were involved with the project at one time, but luckily none of them got to make it. They are great directors, true, but I think the one director that finally made this project a reality, Tom Tykwer (also known for directing Lola rennt) was just perfect for it.
The soundtrack is so beautiful, each song in the movie transports you to another world. Again, it’s one of those albums you should own.
Check out one of the awesome scenes of the movie (where Jean-Baptiste Grenouille meets his first victim).
Going a bit off topic, but still related. Listen to the melody (the name of the song is The Girl with the Plums). Besides the fact that it’s gorgeous, pay special attention to it in the video at 1:11 and forward. Now listen to Evanescence’s cloud nine. I wonder if they got too inspired by the movie, because the similarity can’t be discussed, can it?
The CG Challenges are the largest online art contests of their kind, with huge amounts of sponsorship and publicity for each challenge. This time, the challenge was to create material for the promotion of a (potential) blockbuster film based on EON, a novel by the world famous writer Greg Bear.
The work of the contestants is absolutely impressive. I just saw the winning trailer, and believe me, I’d love to see this turned into a full movie. The trailer is amazing
I really enjoyed 28 days later, and the sequel looks pretty cool. Check out the trailer. I hope this movie is sort of good. I hate that about trailers, usually they look 10000 times better than the actual movie.
