Music videos and music news. Just the music I like to listen to, of course. You’ll find cool stuff like videos of Tool and classic jazz performances.

Bjork, bachelorette

This song is haunting, amazing. I love it, it’s a surreal feeling.

If you noticed, the video was directed by Michel Gondry, the same guy that directed Bjork’s Human Behavior, and more recently: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The science of sleep (which I haven’t yet seen)

Gene Krupa on TV in 1966

Pretty cool, amazingly cool. And here’s another fun jazzy video :)

Many consider Krupa to be the most influential drummer of the 20th century, particularly with regard to the development of the drum kit.

Krupa’s main influence began in the 1930s with his collaboration with the Slingerland drum company, but he had already made history in 1927 as the first kit drummer ever to record using a bass drum pedal. His drum method was published in 1938 and immediately became the standard text.

I disscovered this great podcast a few days ago, and must say it’s amazing. Music for strange moments is a podcast by Radio Three Sixty, and it’s only about music. Not even ‘about’, it is just music. 30 minutes of music. Their choices are really good, and might give you a chance to get to know new artists.

Air Tap

Old video, but it’s really cool. It’s interesting to see how he plays the guitar, though the song gets boring after a while.

So What

April 2, 1959 on The Robert Herridge Theater Show, CBS Studio 61, Manhattan NY with Miles Davis, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb (trombones at final chorus: Frank Rehak, Jimmy Cleveland, Bill Elton), And, of course, John Coltrane.

Some jazz for you today, hope you enjoy it!

He’s cuban, a believer of the revolution. You may not like him, but for this time, put politics aside. He’s a great composer and guitar player. He sings his own songs, though he’s voice is kinda weird, but you’ll learn to like it.

This song is called “Quien Fuera”, and it’s one of the best songs of his. This version is kind of strange and very different to the original one. Hope you enjoy!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Silvio Rodriguez

Tool, sober

Great video for a great song of one of the greatest bands on Earth. Tool is awesome. Enjoy!

The rapture

I’ve been listening to The Rapture, and me likes it a lot. Catchy, and funky, makes you dance even if you don’t want to :) That’s one of the gems I found while browsing the archives of this.bigstereo.net.

the rapture

The Rapture wasn’t the first band to revisit the clanky dance-punk sounds of bands like P.I.L. and Gang of Four. But with its DFA-produced debut, 2003’s Echoes, and the accompanying underground hit, “House of Jealous Lovers,” the Brooklyn quartet proved itself to be the most worthy. On its follow-up, the group makes a dramatic left turn with a new crew of producers (Ewan Pearson and Paul Epworth, plus a pair of tracks recorded with Danger Mouse of Gorillaz and Gnarlz Barkley fame) and a more sophisticated sound that yields pop gems like “Whoo! Alright Yeah… Uh Huh” and “The Devil.” Reassuringly, the saxophones, cowbells and singer Luke Jenner’s unintelligible yelps are still present, as is all the manic energy that goes along with it.
