20090912-1 ERECTRO(clara), 2004 / Photo:KIOKU Keizo

My initial intention with this post was to show the cool photo above, say that it’s an sculpture (I doubt it is a real person) by japanese artist Odani Motohiko, and then go on with my life. It catched my eye. It’s a bit weird, and eerily cool.

One of the things I like doing is searching for the sources, researching for more information, and not just trust what a blog says. And this is the perfect example of why you all should do the same.

I first saw a post about Odani Motohiko at a chilean blog named Bold.cl. The post is in spanish, and the author says the female artist is 26 years old. The text is an almost exact translation of a post at Design You Trust, where they also mention the artist is 26 years old. They, however, don’t mention if the artist is male or female. I’m assuming the Bold.cl poster assume it was a female, based on the photo. Following the sources, Design You Trust links to a post at Look in art. It’s in another language (I believe it’s georgian? I’m not sure) so I couldn’t translate…the only thing I understood is the first two characters in the post: 26. Look in art links to a post at Agitatto, but there there’s no mention of the age or genre of the artist.

The orginal post and information traveled through several blogs and each added a little bit of information. In the end, we know Odani Motohiko is a female japanese artist and she’s 26 years old, which is completely wrong. The funny thing is that all posts (except the original one) link to this page, where you can clearly see the artist was born in 1972 (it’s below the name), which means he/she is about 37 years old. That’s quite a difference from the other age everybody says he/she was. It took me a few seconds in google to find a bit more information about the artist. Art-it has a nice article, with a photo of the artist, where you’ll confirm he was born in 1972, and you’ll realize the artist is maleAssembly language has another article on the artist, where you can again confirm the artist is a "he". They mention he’s 25 years old, but the article was written in 1997, which by then was correct.

I guess it’s very easy to pass the wrong information around. I think bloggers should be specially careful with this, even more when a lot of them consider themselves journalists.

That’s it. Now you have a nice collection of links about Odani Motohiko, so go read about him, and if you can, go see his art. Oh, and keep in mind that everything I wrote might be wrong…you have to do your own research.

I always thought that girls playing football in lingerie is a great idea. I’ve never seen that before (I think they’ve been part of the half-time show in the superbowl? but I’ve never watched it). The video above looks nice, and the girls are tough.

But then, I was watching another video of them playing in a real match, and the truth is, it isn’t as nice as I imagined it (and I’ve imagined that a bunch of times). So many protective gear ruins the fact that these girls are playing football….in lingerie. Well, it’s better than nothing, right?

What the girl in the video says at the end of it is nice: "if a bunch of girls playing football make you nervous, just imagine them in their underwear"

Oh my, oh my. Bar Refaeli sure looks good, doesn’t she? I usually see photos of her in bikini, and posing for fashion photoshoots, but here you have her looking natural in a simple dress, few make-up (or no make-up at all) and still looking awesome. I guess it’s because she’s got an awesome figure and an angel face.

This photo is from Fashion’s Night Out. As a kick-off to New York Fashion Week, stores across the city — and in participating cities all over the world — stayed open until 11 p.m. to entice shoppers with entertainment, flowing refreshments and sometimes even their wares to would-be buyers. (more info here).

Anyway, if you want to see more photos from this set, you know what to do, go to the gallery, and enjoy!

And, if you prefer to see her wearing something more revealing, like a bikini or even less, then go visit this other gallery.

I’d say Kate Beckinsale is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. If you make me choose between her and Megan Fox, I choose the gorgeous Kate. I mean, she’s beautiful, her accent is hypnotizing, and she’s got style and elegance. As an example, look at this photo of her at the premiere of Whiteout, a movie I didn’t know existed, but now that I do, I’ll definitely go see; not only because it has Kate Beckinsale in it, but also because it looks interesting.

A fun night

I guess she’s wearing a really good perfume? Even her friends are going crazy for her. I don’t know. I really don’t know what’s going on…I know it’s a great photo. I love it.

I wonder what happened a few seconds after the photo was taken? Do you guys think they started making out? The girl on the right looks like she’s ready for more…

This is the perfect example of why everybody will need to carry around one of the new ipod nanos with video camera at all times: this is a great photo, but it could’ve been a better video.

Mad girl

20090830-6

I recently started watching the first season of Mad Men (I’m just up to episode two). I haven’t watch enough to say if it’s any good, although so far I do like it, and most people seem to go crazy for this show. Something I find funny is that everybody smokes in this show.

I have to say that the girl above, Christina Hendricks, really really impressed me. Wow, she’s good looking, and has quite a presence, if you know what I mean.

For know I’ll keep watching the show, maybe some day I’ll go find some photos of this cutie and post them here.

Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

These types of photos seem to be everywhere nowadays…you know…write a "deep" quote, and take a picture of it. One is cool, two are nice, but fool me once…you can’t fool me twice. Why are these type of photos everywhere? Or is it just me? Anyway, I still love most of them.

Ok, let’s forget about that. I know I like writing nonsense, but what am I supposed to do? Post beautiful photos like the one below? I can’t always do that you know, I have many other things I want to share with you.

Either way, you know what I hate? I hate it when you find a cool photo in some site and it doesn’t point back to the source or offers any attribution. I always try to do that, I don’t know why a lot of people don’t. I mean, for example, I love this photo right here, and I wish I could know who took the picture. I can’t, because I found it in some random site with some other random photos (like the first one in this post). Can you tell me, who is the author of the portrait of that girl?

I’m desperate! What should I do! Tell me! TELL ME!

20090829-2

I think I’m getting old. How do I know? Because I don’t like most of today’s music…you know…I dislike the young people with their T-pains and their Justin Timberlakes and their Lilly Allens. I prefer my Tool and my oldschool Pearl Jam.

I do listen to all kinds of music though, and from time to time, there’s a band that rocks my world. The latest example is Company of Thieves, a Chicago trio with a female singer that is absolutely awesome (and cute), two other guys that smile and play some instruments, and a nice folksy rock style. So, they are not entirely rock, but they are cool, and their music is cool, and the singer is cool. In conclussion: they’re a good band.

It looks like they have a lot of fun on their live shows, it’s a shame it’s very unlikely I can see them live (I live in a third world country in South America), so I can only listen to them on my Zune (actually, I listen to music on my N97; my Ipod is gathering dust somewhere).

Back to topic now, what was I talking about? Company of Thieves? Well yes, you might like them as well, check out their latest video of their song “Pressure

The voice of Genevieve (the lead singer) melts me, it’s so amazing. Also, check out their first video for the song Oscar Wilde, it’s a really nice one.

Finally, if you did like them, go buy their album Ordinary Riches

You are probably wondering why I keep appearing in your memories, John. It is because I have inserted myself into them.
