Mark Schultz is a fantastic illustrator. I specially like the shading style of his drawings. His art reminds me a lot of Frank Frazetta and Al Williamson‘s style, and it’s obvious that both were an influence to him.
He’s better known for his own series Xenozoic Tales, a crazy story set in a post-apocalyptic future that involves Dinosaurs and Cadillacs. Hey, he’s even done some Star Wars comics, and he’s done other work for Dark Horse Comics (including Alien vs. Predator vs The Terminator), and a bunch of Superman comics, among other things.
I’ll end this post with a preliminary study for a John Carter of Mars commission (via)
