It’s the turn of a freaky and awesome vintage comic book series. Weird War Tales. “The Mistery and Madness” of this comic book series could be an awesome TV series, if done right. Hey Netflix…please?

This anthology of stories was published on a monthly basis by DC Comics from 1971 to 1983. That is 124 issues of war stories with elements of horror, fantasy, mystery and even science fiction (imagine the possibilities!). Some issues featured characters learning to live and survive in a post-nuclear war apocalyptic world. That’s just an example; there’s weird aliens, dragons, ghosts, skeletons flying planes, dinosaurs, among other crazy stuff.

I shall lead you to your ultimate destiny!

Each issue was hosted by Death, usually presented in a different military uniform. It reminds me a bit of the Tales From The Crypt TV show, which was also based on a comics from the 1950s with the same name.

It really has all the elements to capture my attention: vintage comics gone crazy with creepy tales, guns, monsters and Death. What else could you ask for? It’s one more thing to add to my “I’ll read it one day, for sure” list.

One reviewer states “they took out all the great ads from that era”, which is understandable and not actually part of the actual comics. However, I agree, it would’ve added to the experience to see some of the ads that were part of this crazy comic book. If you can get your hands on some original issues, go for it. You can see most of the covers at cover browser.
